Former Celt predicts Celtic to receive huge bids for Odsonne Edouard

Frank McAvennie told Open Goal’s Right in the Coupon with Si Ferry that Odsonne Edouard could be Celtic’s next big export after impressing with France’s U21s again. Edouard now has 9 goals in 4 games with Les Bleus and the ex-Celtic striker backs him to go to the very top, even if he doesn’t leave this January.

“I don’t know if anyone will come in for him in January but listen, he’s only a young boy and is gonna be the next one that goes.

“Everyone is a selling club now and the biggest thing about Edouard is that he will go and he will go for a lot of money.”

McAvennie, who famously scored the winner in the 1988 Scottish Cup Final, has suggested that Celtic will find someone new to replace French Eddy when the time came, he said that the club always manage to compensate for the loss of players as is the nature of football.

“Celtic will find someone that will take his place. There is always someone that comes in as a striker.”

When asked whether Lawrence Shankland could be ready to move to the Champions, McAvennie suggested that he could be, purely down to how good his movement was against San Marino. Whilst his co-guest, Derek Ferguson, talked up Dundee United’s hitman and backed him to make it at a top club.

“He’d get chances, he can finish, he’s a good football player and has ability. Another thing is his fitness.”

Shankland is allegedly a target by Celtic after impressing in the early stages of this season with Dundee United, who he joined on a free-transfer after leaving Ayr United in the summer.
