Paddy Roberts has completed a move to Derby County on-loan from Manchester City. Roberts had been on loan at Wayne Rooney’s Championship rivals Middlesbrough; however, he made a late move to Derby after frustrations over his game time under Neil Warnock. The 23-year-old has eighteen months remaining on his contract at City and clearly feels that his progress is better suited to another club as opposed to remaining on the fringes of Warnock’s side.

Roberts scored 18 goals in 79 appearances in Scotland and was very impressive under Brendan Rodgers in the Invincible season. He may have been keen on a move to Celtic as it would have given him the chance to settle, something he hasn’t had the opportunity to do since leaving Celtic.
Good luck to Paddy, who has struggled to replicate the form that he showed at Celtic. The player will be keen to hit the heights that were being predicted of him when he broke through at Fulham, earning a £12m move to Manchester City. Since leaving Celtic, Roberts has had loan spells at Girona, Norwich and two spells at Middlesbrough but has yet to really find his feet.
