Former Celtic manager considered for manager’s job at top European club

Club Brugge are reportedly considering a move for former Celtic manager Ronny Deila. The Norwegian manager is currently enjoying life in charge of Standard Liege, who sit in sixth place, three behind Brugge.
According to a report in Belgium, Deila is under consideration along with former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Brugge are after a new manager following Scott Parker’s sacking earlier this year.
Deila joined Celtic in 2014 as a surprise appointment from Stromsgodset. Ronny won 2 titles and 1 league cup in his time in Glasgow and played a role in the side’s push towards 9IAR. It is right that the role that he played in developing the club is widely recognised. He was put in an impossible position whereby he was only given some tools to do the job with decisions being taken from above with regards to transfers etc.

Deila lifted the MLS Cup with New York City in 2021 and he had been properly praised for the role that he has played in bringing about success in ‘The Big Apple’ for the City Football Group outfit. It will be interesting to see whether anything comes of this.
