Forrest ‘Taking Nothing for Granted’ in Title Race

James Forrest has said that he is taking nothing for granted as Celtic look to topple Rangers from the top of the SPFL Premiership, the first time in ten months that Celtic haven’t sat comfortably on the summit of the league table.

Forrest was substituted in the 2-0 defeat at Livingston last weekend and with Ross County coming to Celtic Park this Saturday, the winger is looking forward to getting back to club duty and returning to winning ways.

As reported in the Evening Times, Forrest stated that Celtic need to get a run of form together to return to the top of the league.

“It’s a bit strange not being at the top of the table because it’s around 10 months since that was last the case.

“But it keeps us on our toes because we know that if we slip up then Rangers are winning regularly so it’s vital that we take the three points off Ross County on Saturday.

“We have to get winning ways.”

Forrest was pensive about the the situation that has left Celtic two points behind Steven Gerrard’s side; however, he has insisted no one in panicking as the case was similar last year after the Glasgow Derby defeat at Ibrox in December.

“Rangers went into the New Year level on points with us last season but we tend to become stronger after the winter break in January.

“However, we can’t take anything for granted. It’s always tight going into the second half of the season and Rangers are stronger than they were a year ago.

“Hopefully, that is our bad performance and result behind us. Was it a wake-up call? You’d prefer to just keep winning but it’s practically impossible to maintain that high a level right through a campaign. Now we need to show a reaction to that display this weekend.”

Whilst it is only October, Forrest is right to want Celtic to return to winning ways this weekend, especially given that the next ten games that Celtic play could be important to determining our season.
