French club target reported Celtic target Ryan Mmaee

Whilst we secured the double signing of Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz this week, many have been speculating over whether or not Ange Postecoglou and Celtic are finished in the transfer market. Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph even teased the supporters by posting an update on Twitter to confirm that the big man has gotten all the priorities in situ now, yet placed a question mark over we would be pursuing another attacker.

With that said, one of our reputed targets, Ryan Mmaee, has seen interest in him emerge from France now – with Ligue 1 club FC Tolouse apparently entering the fray for his services. According to Homme Du Match, Mmaee is wanted by Christopher Jullien’s former employers as they seek bolster their squad for the new season ahead.

The report states that should they proceed with their initial interest, they wish to take the frontman on-loan initially for a full year before committing to any potential deal. It also revealed that the asking price would be below the €4 million mark for the Morrocan striker. According to the publication, directors from both club’s have been in dialogue of late regarding the promising goalscorer.

The need for another central forward is perhaps more of a want than a need. After all, anyone coming in would need to settle for a place on the bench weekly behind Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis who was sensational in the latter half of last season. Although Mmaee does fit the mould if we were looking for someone to come in and develop into the role.

At under €4 million, could we see Ange make a move after this latest news?

It will certainly be interesting to see if our interest is concrete or not at least.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
