French Eddie, Celtic’s big game hunter, Player of the Month for March

CELTIC STRIKER Odsonne Edouard has been named as the Premiership Player of the Month for March.

French Eddie has played a big part in Celtic stretching their lead at the top of the Premiership from 8 points up to 13 after last week’s win over the Rangers, where Odsonne scored one and made the the winner. That lead increased to 14 points on Saturday but was reduced to 11 points after the Ibrox side won at Fir Park yesterday.

Edouard ended February by scoring a dramatic late winner against Hearts at Tynecastle in Neil Lennon’s first match in charge of the hoops since Rodgers headed south to Leicester City. The 21 year old former Paris St Germain striker took all that in his stride and has continued his excellent form which makes him a one of the favourites for the various player of the year awards.

He also grabbed another stoppage time winner at Dens Park to stretch the lead at the top of the table before getting his wonderful goal last weekend, which was his 19th of the season.

He’s missed games through injury but not suspension – unlike some, he’s never been sent off.

The £9million that Celtic paid for Edouard is looking like a real bargain. And another thing about French Eddie is that he gets the important goals in the big games – like Aberdeen this Sunday in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup…
