From Tyrone To Philadelphia: Raymond Coleman Gig On Celtic Pub Page Earns £160 For Charity In Under An Hour!

Hailing from Ardboe in Co Tyrone, Raymond Coleman is one of the best Irish musicians on the circuit in America. A story familiar with many Irish men and women down the generations, Raymond left his native country to live in Philadelphia, but he carries a piece of home in his voice box and guitar strings.

Well acquainted with the local Celtic support and Irish community in his newfound homeland, Raymond has performed for the 2nd Street Plough Bhoys CSC at many annual Philadelphia Celtic Conventions. He is inspired by some of Ireland’s greatest balladeers and follows in their footsteps by combining his superb singing voice with a warming sense of humour.

A professional folk musician, Raymond has played at festivals across Ireland & America, whilst he released his debut album Trouble (with a capital T) in 2014. On Tuesday 21 April, he brought his talents to Glasgow, performing an hour long gig on the Kelly’s Glasgow City Facebook page. The gig was in aid of the patient supplies drive in Bournemouth, with all proceeds going towards providing children with entertainment and snacks, whilst they are unable to have visitors at present.

You can watch the video of Raymond’s performance below:

With songs from the 1798 Uprising favourite, Irish Soldier Laddie, to Richard Thompson’s classic, Beeswing; Raymond put on a superb show of Irish Folk music.

The gig raised £160 for the charity in less than 60 minutes! An astounding effort from Raymond and the combined generosity of the Celtic support and Irish dispora scattered around America, Scotland and within Ireland itself.

One can’t help but be impressed by Raymond Coleman’s unique voice and wide ranging repertoire. If you enjoyed the above video and would like to see more of this wonderful musician, then you can do so by visiting Raymond’s Facebook page and website:
