Glasgow Derby Under Threat As SFA & SPFL Called To Government Talks

After the scenes witnessed over the weekend, SFA and SPFL bosses have been summoned to a crisis meeting with government leaders over fears about the Glasgow Derby clash later this month.

According to Glasgow Live, Ian Maxwell and Neil Doncaster were told to attend a video call with Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing Mairi Gougeon to discuss the weekend’s scenes.

Ibrox fans gathered and broke lockdown rules. The police gave them escorts to the city centre and only seven fines were issued. However, after two nights of vandalism and violence there appears to be some retribution forthcoming.

Deputy First Minister John Swinney branded fans of the Govan club as a disgrace and called the club’s silence defeaning. The ‘Gers hit back by claiming they did all they could to control the situation, but that’s somewhat contested in the wake of footage showing players interacting with supporters and cheerleading.

The government are also thought to be unhappy about Celtic fans turning up to Celtic Park earlier in the season, when they protested against the board and Neil Lennon being in charge.

With the two sides set to meet on 21 March, there are now serious doubts about the game going ahead. Particularly as discussions are thought to have covered methods for preventing a reoccurrence of such scenes.

  1. Scotland have succumbed to the pressure of masons protecting the old protestant lawlords and anything outside religious bigotry, just listen to the singing yesterday. They know Government have no authority. Orange walks, Protestants rule this country. Sturgeon can’t do a thing about it or lose her knighthood. Just look at the Royal Family, look what they have done to Meghan.

  2. Can I use this to plead with all Celtic fans to stay away from Celtic Park at the next game. Let the moronic neanderthals from across the city be Scotland’s Shame. Please don’t allow us to be “tarred with the same brush”.

    • Very wise words , Eddie . If we are blatantly honest we also have our moronic element —–
Statement after statement must come out of Celtic Park to ensure that we do not emulate the behaviour of all element associated with theRangers .
