Celtic were back at work today after a rest-day and after training the team left for their base in Aberdeen ahead of tomorrow nights re-arranged league fixture at Pittodrie…
Kieran Tierney spoke to the mainstream media this afternoon at Lennoxtown after the squad returned to training following a day-off on Monday as the players rested up following the energy sapping matches in Stuttgart last Thursday night then at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.
The squad were in good spirits as you can see from the ‘inside training’ video released by Celtic TV earlier this afternoon, which you can watch below.
Asked the mood in the camp after the 2-2 draw against theRangers on Sunday with Celtic turning around a 2-0 first half deficit with a dominant second half-fightback Tierney understandably said it was upbeat.
“Today has been positive,” KT said. “We watched the game back, both halves because it was really a game of both halves, we saw where we could improve, do better at the start of the game, but also the determination and the character, and the quality that we showed in the second half.”

As the title race looks like involving four sides this season, KT reckons that Celtic’s experience in getting titles over the line – 13 in the past 14 seasons will be a real advantage.
“It’s massive,” he said. “But regardless of the situation, every week the game matters for Celtic. We play at a club where the pressure is so high and demanding, that every game matters.
“So, it’s not new to us. Maybe the situation is, with three or four different teams going for it, but the pressure of playing for Celtic is not new to us.
“Experience in a title run is a massive thing, and we’ve got our captain, Cal who’s been in and won so many trophies, James Forrest as well and boys that have been there in the past.
“So, it’s amazing to have guys like that in the changing room, and even the manager as well, who has been involved, it’s brilliant for us and I hope it helps,” Celtic’s left-back said.
Celtic have ten league matches to go plus there’s the matter of the Scottish Cup quarter-final back at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon and the players understand that a run of good form and victories is going to be essential if they are to pull a sensational double out of the jaws of what has bee a turbulent season for the club on and off the park.
“You just can’t rely on resilience and character, we need to show that we can play as well and go and beat teams,” Kieran Tierney noted. “I think that’s what we need to work on in these next few games as well, just doing both of those things.”
The players and management will have to do their bit but so too will the Celtic Board who continue to self-harm the club with these stupid, self-defeating bans on the Green Brigade and the Celtic fan media, both through a nasty, vindictive collective punishment approach that drags others into disputes and grievances that they were not party to.
Ibrox, as we expected was a wall of noise on Sunday and that helped sweep theRangers into a commanding 2-0 lead as Celtic felt the weight of the hostility on their shoulders. Celtic Park need the Noise back and – better late than never – that need to be sorted for the Motherwell game and all matches thereafter.
Lifting the bans is down to these two senior executives, Michael Nicholson the CEO and Chris McKay, Celtic’s Financial Director. Both sidestepped the recent meeting with the Celtic Fans Collective where Brian Wilson was simply buying time and kicking the support’s concerns down the road.
Ibrox will be less hostile this weekend because Celtic will have just under 8,000 supporters in the Free Broomloan stand and they will be heard. We need to bring back a wall of sound at Celtic Park and we need to throw absolutely everything at it – that means having The Green Brigade back. Immediately. For what it’s worth , I’d like to see KT playing more central in a back 4 …. With Scratchy or possibly Andy Robinson on his left . I think the amount of running that’s required of him might be too much , a more central position will be less damaging to his legs/ knees , and ultimately get another season or two out of him . Forward planning …
