Celtic full-back Greg Taylor has said that trophies are more important than contract talks. The Scotland Internationalist has just over one year remaining on his deal at the club but has revealed that talks are yet to take place with the club over extending his deal.
As reported by Record Sport, Taylor says that he wants to focus on bringing silverware to the club before focusing on his future.
“I have one year left but there has been no talks. I have just been focused on finishing the season strongly. We will see what comes of it. I just want to do as well as I can for Celtic. There will always be competition and that is the focus of being a Celtic player.
“I just want to take care of these next six games and then everything else will take care of itself,” Greg Taylor said.
The club will likely offer Taylor another contract and he is certainly deserving of it. Ange Postecoglou had an enormous impact upon Taylor, turning him into an inverted full-back, something that he has continued under Brendan Rodgers.
With that in mind, Taylor’s best performances came under Ange when he had Carl Starfelt beside him. The offering of a deal should not impact the club’s plans to sign another left-back as cover for Taylor.
