Hacks making a mountain out of a molehill – they’re taking the Mickey

I wouldn’t be worried in the slightest about Brendan’s words…

The media have gone into overdrive making a mountain out of a molehill concerning Brendan Rodgers latest media conference, which took place at Lennoxtown today and was attended by Matt Corr from The Celtic Star.

Some of our more pessimistic supporters have also taken a dim view of his words and decided to spread some gloom, in turn helping the media in their negativity stance towards the club. And as I understand it our Editor has spoken to senior sources at the club about this non-story and can confirm that it’s very much along the lines on what Paul Gillespie has already reported on The Celtic Star today.

For the avoidance of doubt Brendan Rodgers in NOT unhappy with Celtic regarding the support he has received in the transfer market, and that is from the horse’s mouth so to speak.

Brendan of course said he wasn’t content with his summer business in the transfer market and he was only being truthful. He also said that other managers would tell you the same and he would be correct. What is wrong with that? He wasn’t announcing his resignation, he was just airing his displeasure about not adding new signings. That’s hardly the end of the world.

Of course Brendan wanted more quality in, every manager does, but you don’t always get the deals over the line you want, that’s football. He will of course be looking to add in January and he may well indeed get the targets he wants, perhaps he missed out on one or two just before the window closed but these deals are instead likely to happen in January.

So to summarise, Brendan is happy at the club and that’s confirmed by The Celtic Star after speaking to the club this afternoon. He wouldn’t have agreed to come back if he wasn’t happy with the terms. He knew what he was getting into and he’s happy with the tools at his disposal.

Maybe the hacks should stop looking for controversy’s that aren’t there. Like the fear story they tried to create at the weekend concerning Kyogo’s shoulder, whether he needs surgery and then how long he’d be out, concluding that it would be two months or more.

Again The Celtic Star Editor was in the media room after the game against Dundee and heard this potential story being concocted. The only trouble is Brendan confirmed that Kyogo’s shoulder popped out but did so be simply saying ‘yes’. After it was over and Brendan left the room they complained that they had the story but didn’t have the quotes to go with it.

Brendan knew exactly what he was doing at the weekend and also again today.  But just to confirm again he is NOT unhappy with the club regarding the transfer business that was done and any frustrations relate to missing out on deals that were being actively pursued. These things happen all the time.
