Harry Kewell tipped to follow Ange Postecoglou’s path

Celtic coach Harry Kewell is being linked with a move to the J-League as manager of Yokohama F Marinos.

With Kevin Muscat being linked with a move to Sunderland, Kewell has been installed as the frontrunner to take over at the club that Celtic took Ange Postecoglou from.

The Australian joined Celtic under Ange Postecoglou last season as a first team coach and was retained by Brendan Rodgers when he returned in the summer. It was a little surprising that Ange didn’t take his compatriot with him to Spurs; however, it was Celtic’s gain as the former winger is well thought of within the club.

Kewell is best known for his spells at Leeds United and Liverpool. During his time at Elland Road, Kewell made 236 appearances scoring 61 goals and assisting on 27 occasions; whilst with Liverpool, he scored 16 and assisted 16 in 139 games. In his time with Liverpool, he won the European Cup and FA Cup.

There will likely be an opening in Celtic’s backroom team for Rodgers to fill. For Kewell, who joined Celtic to further his coaching career. Kewell may fancy making the switch as he looks to succeed in his own right as a manager.
