According to Anthony Joseph at Sky Sports News, Reo Hatate is open to further contract talks after rejecting the clubs first offer today.
Joseph reports that the club has opened contract talks with both Liel Abada and Reo Hatate, offering improved terms and extensions to their current deals.
Both Abada and Hatate’s current deals are up in May 2026, with the club eager to extend both players stays at the club.
Hatate has had a difficulty start to life under Brendan Rodgers, merely used as a substitute in Celtics opening two league games and picking up an injury in Celtics second league game at Pittodrie.
In stark contrast, Abada has had a much more positive start to the season, scoring once and registering one assist as the Israeli international has started all three of Celtics opening league games.
Regardless of current narratives surrounding either player, both Reo Hatate and Liel Abada are both big assets to the club, financially and in terms of their abilities on the pitch.
Tying down both players, in particular Hatate, would be extremely good business by the club in what has been an underwhelming transfer window so far.
