Hibs are considering yet another offer to make John Kennedy their manager. The Easter Road side sacked ex-Celt, Shaun Maloney, earlier today after only four months in the job. Now, Ron Gordon is looking for his third manager of the season having sacked Jack Ross back in November.
One name that has been routinely suggested as a contender for the Hibs job is John Kennedy. The Celtic Assistant Manager is yet to make his own foray into management as a No.1 and the Hibs job could appeal. According to The Sun, Kennedy is in the frame for the Edinburgh club’s top job.
Kennedy has his own aspirations to be a manager in his own right. The former Celtic defender has worked under Ronny Deila and Brendan Rodgers as a First Team Coach before being promoted to Assistant Manager under Neil Lennon. He has been linked with managerial vacancies in the past but has progressed through the ranks at Celtic. Ange Postecoglou opted to retain Kennedy, clearly valuing his opinion and getting him to buy into his philosophy at the club.
Kennedy faced fierce criticism from some supporters last season but by all accounts is an excellent coach. He has ably adapt to life under Postecoglou and it would be a real loss to lose him. From a purely selfish point of view, Kennedy will think that It is probably for the best to seek a move away from Celtic Park if it improves his chances of one day earning the top job for himself.
You would imagine that if any move came into fruition then it would be a close-season affair rather than with five games to go with the league title beckoning.
