Hibs agree fee for Kevin Nisbet, Celtic pass up option

Millwall look set to sign reported Celtic target Kevin Nisbet. The 25-year-old has been subject to intense speculation in the last 48 hours after seven goals in seven games sparked increased interest in the striker. However, suggestions that Hibs wouldn’t sell the player appear to be unfounded as a deal worth £2.5m has reportedly been agreed.

According to the Daily Record Nisbet will undergo a medical and discuss personal terms with the London club.

Reports have suggested that Celtic are considering Nisbet with a view to making a January move for the striker. The Scotland Internationalist is a Celtic supporter and would be keen on moving to Glasgow’s East End. Recent reports suggest that Celtic’s recruitment team are working to ascertain whether Nisbet can cope with the demands of Ange’s team before launching a bid, even if Hibs were reluctant to discuss any deal. Clearly Celtic were unconvinced by the player as they haven’t made any suggestion that they would be rivalling the English club.

In 88 appearances for Hibs, Nisbet has 34 goals and 12 assists. It is likely that the deal will be complete for Nisbet and he will move to English football with the London club.

It appears that Celtic have passed up the opportunity to sign the player. They will be aware of his talents but given the fee involved, it is clear the Scottish Champions could’ve made an approach with relative ease. Albeit, with South Korean striker Oh signing, the manager was likely content to move forward with the new man and Kyogo competing for minutes – with Giakoumakis headed for the exit.

    • Celtic were never interested in signing Nisbet as Hibs would have never sold him to the tribute act. Made up story with no truth whatsoever.
