Celtic beat St Mirren yesterday to make it six wins on the bounce for Ange Postecoglou’s side. The Hoops were in great form as they put six goals beyond the Paisley side. Ange made two changes from the win over AZ Alkmaar with Ryan Christie returning to the starting lineup with Odsonne Edouard, James Forrest and Tom Rogic – who impressed in midweek – were rested.
Liel Abada gave Celtic the lead with a left-footed strike that deceived Jak Alnwick in the Saints net. The Israeli winger took the ball into the box from the right-hand side before sending his effort goal-ward.
Minutes later, Liel Abada scored the second of the game as the winger found himself on the end of a good cross from Greg Taylor. The 19-year-old headed the ball into the ground leaving the goalie with no chance.
David Turnbull made it 3-0 with an excellent strike from distance. Turnbull made it 4-0 to Celtic after an error from the St Mirren goalkeeper. The Scottish midfielder got a second of the afternoon after Alnwick fumbled a cross, allowing Celtic’s No.14 to stick the ball into the net. The first half finished 4-0 to the Celts.
Odsonne Edouard had Celtic’s fifth with a finish from close range. It was Turnbull that got a hat-trick and completed the rout as Albian Ajeti forced a mistake from the Saints defender before playing Tom Rogic in. The Australian clipped the ball into Turnbull’s path, who dinked it over Alnwick. It was 6-0 but it really could have been more.
