The Japanese midfielder showed incredible finesse as he danced through the Aberdeen defence before curling an effort into the net. Hatate made it 3-0 in the second half with another tidy finish after using smart footwork to get out of a tight spot on the touchline. It was 4-0 late in the game as Sead Haksabanovic cut the ball back for Liel Abada as the subs combined to round off the scoring.

The Scottish League Cup meeting next weekend at Hampden is an opportunity for the first piece of silverware to be picked up. Ange Postecoglou’s side are the holders having beaten Hibs last season; however, this season, they will need to get beyond Rangers.
