Honduras FA chief confirms extent of Luis Palma injury after call up

Celtic winger Luis Palma has been called up to play for Honduras in their upcoming Copa America Qualifier against Costa Rica. The attacker missed the Scottish Cup Quarter Final win over Livingston and then is expected to miss this weekend’s game against St Johnstone.

However, in an update to Football Scotland, Honduras FA Chief Gerardo Ramos provided an update on Palma stating that he is suffering from a minor injury but expects the attacker to feature on international duty.

“Luis Palma has a minor injury that has been worked on with the National Team doctor in conjunction with the Celtic doctor. We are positive that Luis will be able to be there for this important match against Costa Rica.

“Logic tells you that Palma is one of the first on the teamsheet and we hope he is 100 per cent ready for that game. He does have a small injury, but it is nothing serious and he can recover in the coming days.

“We need the best possible squad for our dream of achieving qualification for the Copa America.”

Palma will likely be unavailable at the weekend along with the suspended Yang, meaning that James Forrest may end starting after being in the squad at the weekend. Nicolas Kuhn impressed from the start while Daizen Maeda scored a hat trick so they would be expected to both start.
