Neil Lennon has said that James Forrest is nearing his Celtic return after months on the sidelines. The 29-year-old winger has been an integral part of the sides in the last nine years but was forced to go under the knife owing to an ankle knock at the start of the season. Celtic have missed Forrest and his return will be like a new signing for the team with Lennon saying it will be ‘huge’ as the Scottish Champions look to retain their crown.
Speaking to Celtic TV, Lennon said that Forrest and the returned Mikey Johnston can help pull Celtic back into the title race, where they are currently faltering 19 points behind.
“We have missed those two this year. They are two exceptional talents, very individual talents, and they can change the dynamic of the way we play.
“Mikey has had a real bad run of injuries and it’s great to see him back and flourishing again, and Jamesy is not a million miles away, which is huge because he has been such a pivotal player for us over the years.”
Celtic have three games in hand of Rangers, as well as two fixtures against Steven Gerrard’s side. With Rangers having to go to tough away grounds this month, Celtic can still see a pathway to the title but it involves a flawless record – starting against Jack Ross’ Hibs on Monday.
Lennon will also need to address recruitment if the bid for the ten is to be successful. Christopher Jullien will be sidelined for some time so a new central defender is required. Former Celtic loan star Filip Benkovic has been touted with Brendan Rodgers saying that this would be a great move for the Croatian.
Lennon and his too many pals gettin a game rather than the player in form is going to be instrumental in him being sacked, and not before time. How can Forrest be named as a number 7 legend I’d nonsense and em barrassing.
