“I am not happy Celtic have finally found their shooting boots,” Paul McGinn

Motherwell captain Paul McGinn has admitted to a sense of unease after seeing Celtic rediscover their cutting edge ahead of tonight’s Scottish Premiership meeting at Fir Park…

McGinn noted that the Scottish champions had been wasteful in front of goal earlier in the campaign, but recent results suggest that trend has shifted. Celtic followed up a convincing victory over Aberdeen with a 4–2 win against Livingston at the weekend, ending a run that had previously seen the Hoops suffer four consecutive defeats.

By contrast, Motherwell arrive at the fixture looking to bounce back from a narrow 1-0 defeat to theRangers at Ibrox. That setback brought an end to an impressive 10-match unbeaten run in the league and a six-game run without conceding.

With the Steelmen sitting fourth in the table and eight points adrift of Celtic, McGinn is hoping Wilfried Nancy’s side are not at their best when the teams meet under the lights at Fir Park this evening.

Speaking via Daily Record, McGinn said: “I am not happy Celtic have finally found their shooting boots! Celtic were missing sitters for fun recently but that’s now seven goals in two games from them, so I’m not too pleased about that.

“Hopefully they go back to missing big chances again on Tuesday. It is a big game for us again and a good one to pick ourselves up in after the Rangers game, where we were pretty toothless up front. If we get the three points from the Celtic game then that would get us rolling again – and that’s what we’ll try to do.”

Three points for Celtic tonight would set the team up nicely heading into Saturday’s third Glasgow Derby of the season against theRangers at Celtic Park. It would also put Nancy’s men level on points with league leaders Hearts.
