“I don’t want to speak about it,” Abada refuses to be drawn new Celtic deal

Liel Abada looked back on his hat-trick against Dundee United in the 9-0 hammering at the start of the season (28 August) and also spoke about his focus being entirely on playing football rather than any talk of new contract negotiations with Celtic.

“It was a great moment for me because it was my first hat-trick for Celtic but the most important thing was three points. Now we look towards this game and we just need to play our football, stay calm and keep going,” Abada said ahead of today’s game, as reported by Glasgow Times.

“Everyone did their job on the pitch and everyone helped each other. Everyone helped the players who scored and were attacking. We need to do that every game.

“Every time the manager wants us to score a lot of goals to play well and play attacking football. We work hard on the pitch to try and score a lot of goals and attack every time we can and we just need to keep going.

“Every time I get the chance I want to help the team get three points and to play well. It doesn’t matter who scores. Of course, everyone wants to score and get assists, but the most important thing to get three points from every game,” Abada added.

Asked about how the contract extension talks were going Abada refused to be drawn. He said: “For now, I am not focused about it, I am focused on the games. I don’t want to speak about it and what will happen, will happen but for now I focus on Sunday.”

Here are the highlights of that 9-0 win back from earlier in the season, including of course Liel Abada’s first ever Celtic hat-trick…
