“I fell in love with the club”, First Minister Humza Yousaf on Celtic

First Minister Humza Yousaf has opened up on his love for Celtic. The 38-year-old elevated to the top office in Scotland last year and has made a few appearances at Celtic games in that time.

Speaking to The Rest is Politics podcast, Yousaf spoke out about his love for the Scottish Champions and how he became a supporter of the club.

“I’ve been a Celtic fan since I was six years old, so to somehow pretend I wasn’t a Celtic fan would be a bit ridiculous.

“My late uncle, who sadly passed away quite young from pancreatic cancer, took me to my first Celtic game and i just fell in love with the club.”

Separately, Yousaf was asked by Pod Save the Uk podcast what his job would be outside of politics. The SNP leader showed no hesitation in admitting he’d want to be chairman of the club.

“It’s got to be something to do with Celtic.

“Yes, I mean other than being chairman of Celtic Football Club, which is of course what I would be doing if I wasn’t in politics.”

Notwithstanding his role in the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act, appearing on the Justice Committee while the legislation went through Parliament, Yousaf has always been fairly open about supporting Celtic.
