The Czech striker – who arrived from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach on a loan deal last month, has made a positive early impact under Martin O’Neill.

As well as opening his Celtic account against Falkirk with a terrific header, Cvancara has also registered two key assists, setting up Yang Hyun-jun against Hearts and Julian Araujo in the dramatic 3-2 win over Kilmarnock.

His cross for the Mexican defender at the weekend could prove decisive at the end of the campaign, with Araujo netting deep into stoppage time to secure a crucial victory for Martin O’Neill’s men.

In an interview with the official Celtic FC Podcast, the forward revealed he is keen to turn his loan spell into a permanent move, underlining his desire to continue his progress with the Scottish champions.

The 25 year-old said: “I want to prove myself and prove why I came. Maybe, if I’m going to be good enough, show the board and everyone that they have to sign me for the future. This is my goal. I will just try to do my best.

“It would be an honour again [to be called up for Czech Republic], but to be honest, this is not my goal in the future.

“I would say that I want more focus on the club, that I want to prove that I am good enough, that I deserve to be here, that I want to score goals, make assists, and help the team.

“This is, for me, the closest steps in my career, and if they call me up, they call me up, if they didn’t, they didn’t, but I want to prove that I am good enough to be in Celtic.”
