Ilir Meta’s Bagel Joke – A “very, very happy” President of Albania says “we played tennis today, not football”

ALBANIAN President Ilir Meta couldn’t hide his delight after watching Celtic outclass the Icelandic Champions KR Reykjavik behind closed doors at Celtic Park this evening. The 6-0 scoreline had the Head of State thinking in terms of tennis – what is it that they call a 6 love set, is it a Bagel? Well that’s exactly what Celtic served up this evening and President Meta, the recent founder of his very own Albanian Celtic Supporters Club – was clearly thrilled.

“Very very happy! What a magical night!” he tweeted. A fantastic six star performance! We played tennis today, not football. The Bhoys almost knocked down the opponent’s gate! You are wonderful! Good luck in the UEFA Champions League. Hail Hail,” he wrote.

Ilir Meta is a longtime friend of former Celtic cult hero Rudi Vata and the two got together to form the Albania supporters club In Tirana earlier in the summer. Even had the Rebs on at their launch party – priceless!

Earlier the President took time away from his state duties to provide an early update on the game after a half hour played. “Perfect start for the Hoops! Just over 31 minutes played at Paradise, the Celts in control of possession! Come on you Bhoys in Green! Let’ do our duty to the end! Hail Hail!” Ilir tweeted.

When the Covid restrictions are lifted surely Celtic must invite President Meta over to a game at Paradise? Why a reception he’d get too!
