After 9 minutes, Cummings scored for Stephen McManus’ side to give them the lead.

The 18-year-old, who is signed to CAA Base Agency, had scored 21 goals this season in 19 appearances going into this game. The goal return will have certainly caught the attention from other clubs, who will look to the Celtic Academy for talent. Recent examples of Rocco Vata and Daniel Kelly come to mind and the club will be keen to avoid a repeat.

The appointment of Darren O’Dea to become a Pathway Manager will hopefully assist Cummings in his transition from youth prospect to first team figure. Given the volume of games, you would expect that Cummings could be in line for a call up to the first team squad but there is a lot of first team completion.

Brendan has recently involved Cummings in first team training as he looks to assess him ahead of a potential call up to the first team but the youngster’s continued form will certainly have the boss pondering Cummings’ future. The manager has previously spoken of his wanting three strikers – two first choice frontmen with a third, development option. With Kyogo and Adam Idah battling for the starting place under Rodgers, the third option is readily available if Cummings continues to prosper.
