Injury may have struck at the worst time for in-form Celtic ace as Lenny confirms scan required

It looked like Jonny Hayes had found a great run of form at the best time. He was approaching a situation where his contract was due to expire and there was plenty of interest in his services.

The Sun reported there was some interest from English Championship sides, but there was also a feeling that he might have earned himself a new contract at Parkhead. He had proven to be a more reliable option to Neil Lennon than Greg Taylor and was gaining the affection of the fans too.

Injury may have struck at the worst time for him after he was forced off during today’s game against Livingston. Sky Sports reported on some of Lenny’s comments that a scan will be required on his shoulder:

A shoulder issue could cause some serious problems. If it’s a long term injury then it will impact his ability to run, so it could have a big impact on his game. A lot of his best qualities are centered around his ability to run and work hard for the team.

It certainly doesn’t look good at this point, if he’s out for a period of time then that gives Greg Taylor a chance to establish himself in the first team. Hopefully it’s not a serious injury, but he might find himself out for a few months, struggling for first team minutes and that interest from down south could dry up as well.

It’s worth keeping an eye on the news for any updates on his injury in the next few days.
