Injury Update: Elena Sadiku confirms that Celtic player’s season is over

Paula Partido will be out for the rest of the season with a foot injury, picked up against Glasgow City, as confirmed yesterday by Elena Sadiku after her side returned to the top of the SWPL1 with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Hearts at Celtic Park.

Paula Partido’s season is over with a foot injury picked up against Glasgow City

Supporters had been wondering where Partido had gone after her name had been absent from recent team sheets. The Celtic Star spoke to the manager after yesterday’s game and took the chance to ask about the Real Madrid loanee.

Elena said: “Paula Partido is out for the rest of the season. It was a foot injury against Glasgow City.”

The 19-year-old has spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Celtic from Real Madrid and has looked promising. In 23 appearances, she has three goals and eight assists, with 430 successful passes to her name.

Although it is likely that she will return to her parent club at the end of the season, she’s certainly been a good asset to Celts throughout their impressive campaign, so hopefully, the club will hold a place in her heart for the rest of her career.

Celya Barclais has filled in as the right-wingback

Celya Barclais was playing in the position that Partido would usually play in yesterday afternoon, and she looked good. Her presence was daunting and with some good moves on the attack, she certainly made her mark on Paradise.

The 5-0 victory over Hearts sees Celtic FC Women lead the table for the second week in a row, ahead of theRangers Women by two points and 16 goal difference advantage on top. Although SWPL action takes a break for a week while we see if the Ghirls can progress to the Scottish Cup final, we’ll return against Glasgow City on the 1st of May. With only five games to go, we can’t afford to drop points at this time, so we need to ensure that we keep up our winning ways.

That Women’s Scottish Cup semi-final takes place at Hampden on Saturday in the early kick-off and the opposition is theRangers Women, who will be looking for revenge after Celtic’s brilliant victory over Saturday’s opponents in last season’s Women Scottish Cup Final.

Celtic FC Women are looking to making it three in a row in terms of Women’s Scottish Cup wins and a large Celtic support, like in the 2023 Final, would be a massive boost for Elena Sadiku’s team.
