“It would mean the world to win the league,” Dream that Dream, Caitlin

The Celtic FC TikTok page has uploaded a short clip celebrating the PFA Scotland Player of the Year, Caitlin Hayes signing a new contract with Celtic. Hayes has signed a three-year contract, meaning she will play with the Hoops until 2026. In the clip, Caitlin opens up about the limits put on her in the world of football due to her gender, and how that time has now passed, so girls can now ‘dream that dream’ as she has, and play professional football.

Speaking to The Celtic Star after signing her new three year contract and ahead of Sunday’s SWPL1 title showdown against Hearts at Celtic Park Caitlin said: “I was absolutely buzzing to secure my future at this football club. It’s one that I know and love. From here I just can’t wait to see what is next and see how the season will end!

“‘It’s been a fantastic week. There probably aren’t many weeks in my life that have been better! These things are great, but the focus is ultimately on the ninety minutes and as a squad we have got to keep our heads down.

“I am sure there will be a moment to celebrate what we have done. But right now we have to focus on making it the best celebration possible. I’ve been thankful for this week, but it means nothing if the job isn’t done,” Celtic’s Women Player of the Year said.

“I’ve probably not experienced anything quite like this,” Caitlin said. “I think it’s a script that no one could have written up at the beginning of the season before it started.

“Relishing in the moment is either something you do or don’t, and there are a lot of factors that come into whether you do or don’t. What we will all do is enjoy the moment. To play the game with our team-mates, and in front of the supporters at Celtic Park – it’s a dream come true for a lot of us.’

“So I can’t wait for that moment and just fingers crossed everything goes our way.”

“It would mean the world to win the league. You don’t need to ask me that question to figure out how I would or anyone in the team would feel! But there is wanting it, and then there is doing it. Hopefully, we can do everything on Sunday to leave the power in our hands by getting the job done.

“It’s a point I keep making, but it is important that we focus on the game and do what we need to do. Not focusing on anything else other than our own performance. When that final whistle goes we’ll lift our heads, and see what is in front of us. If it’s meant to be, it will be. But I’m just thankful for this season and fingers crossed it can finish how we all want it to,” Caitlin Hayes said.

Here’s Caitlin Hayes speaking to the Media, starting with The Celtic Star, ahead of the final SWPL1 match of the season against Hearts on Sunday where a huge crowd will be in attendance and a win will GUARANTEE Champions League qualification and could well result in a first ever title for Celtic.
