“It’s hard to explain. It’s the biggest game for me and I love them,” Josip Juranovic

The message from Josip Juranovic after non-stop Celtic’s 7-0 demotion of the current Scottish Cup holders was bring on the Old Firm on Sunday because the Croatian international full-back can’t wait to play in the Glasgow Derby against the Old Firm with both Celtic and Old Firm fans each having 50% of the National stadium.

Celtic will be looking to extend the unbeaten domestic run to 34 games and in doing so earn a place in the Scottish Cup Final against one of the Edinburgh sides with Hibs and Hearts playing in the Edinburgh Derby semi-final the day before Celtic take on the Old Firm.

“Are we ready”  for (the)Rangers? Yes, of course, the Rangers game is the biggest derby in the world and we can’t wait for it,” Juranovic said, as reported by Scottish Sun. “We know it will be a tough game again, but we need to take care of ourselves and see where it takes us.

“The Cup game will be different to the other matches as it will be 50/50 in terms of fans in the stadium. It will be a new experience for me, but it will be a great atmosphere and I can’t wait.

“The small details in these games can decide the result. We will look at our opponents this week and then we’ll prepare for Sunday. From the first minute we have to give everything to make sure we win,” Juranovic added.

Some foreign players struggle to understand what these games against the Old Firm are all about when the come to Celtic but Juranovic was thrown in at the deep end last August at Ibrox shortly after signing for Celtic and although Celtic were unlucky to lose out that afternoon, the Croatian equipped himself well and since then has enjoyed back to back wins over the Old Firm in 2022 starting with the 3-0 mauling on 2 February and continuing last weekend at Ibrox when Celtic gave the Old Firm a goal of a start and still won the game through goals from Tom Rogic and Cameron Carter-Vickers.

All six of the goals scored in these two 2022 Glasgow Derbies have come in the first half with both second 45s ending goalless, although the Old Firm’s Ryan Jack won the Man of the Second Half for almost scoring at Paradise.

“I have never played three derby games so quickly before as we will play them in the league just after the semi-final. But we live for moments and games like that,” Juranovic continued.

“We know how important it is and it might be the biggest derby in football and we know everyone is watching it. How much do I enjoy the derby? It’s hard to explain.

“It’s the biggest game for me and I love them.”

Celtic’s Scottish Cup semi-final against the Old Firm kicks off at Hampden at 2pm this Sunday and if you haven’t got a ticket it’s live on Premier Sports.
