It’s Official – Celtic seal deal for AC Milan’s Diego Laxalt

CELTIC have sealed a loan deal for AC Milan’s Diego Laxalt. The Scottish Champions have been targeting a new left wingback and the 27-year-old will offer competition for Greg Taylor for a place on the left flank.

The player travelled from Milan to London to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical but now, with all that completed Neil Lennon’s side have been able to announce the loan signing of Laxalt.

The club changed their Twitter bio to a Spanish sentence get supporters to ‘turn on notifications’, building suspension ahead of the confirmation of Laxalt.

Laxalt will wear the No.93 at Celtic, continuing the trend that he had at AC Milan.

The Uruguayan Internationalist spent last season on loan at Torino but has failed to make the grade with Milan after pre-season and I Rossoneri wanted to recoup the £14m fee paid to Genoa in 2018 but no bids were forthcoming.

There had been discussion of Celtic and AC Milan including an option to buy of £9m.

Laxalt is no stranger to Olivier Ntcham, with the pair playing together for 18 months between 2015 and 2017 season. Hopefully the Frenchman will be able to help integrate into the squad, especially ahead of the game versus Rangers on October 17.

Celtic had been needing to add quality in the left wingback position following Bolingoli’s decision to take a night away to Spain without quarantining on his return and taking the field versus Killie. Following a stern, overreaction from the Scottish Government Celtic had two games postponed allowing Rangers to open up a gap at the top of the table. That now sits at one point with Celtic having a game in hand over Steven Gerrard’s side.

What a signing by Celtic and what an impressive transfer window as the club backed Neil Lennon bringing Moi Elyounoussi, Shane Duffy, Albian Ajeti, Vasilis Barkas, David Turnbull and now Diego Laxalt.
