It’s time for Celtic to deal in David Turnbull

David Turnbull as we know is entering the last year of his contract. The 24 year old who was signed for £3.5 million from Motherwell in 2020 hasn’t exactly set the heather on fire at Celtic Park, but he’s hardly been a flop either.

David’s record of 25 goals and 23 assists in his time at Celtic is pretty impressive when you consider he’s not had a real chance to have a regular run in the side due to injury.

When he’s on form he’s a decent player as he’s proved so far in pre season. He capped a fine display against Athletic club on Tuesday night with a fine taking goal. Brendan also handed him the armband once James Forrest went off so he must be in the Irishman’s plans which is a good sign.

It’s widely believed that David was not suited to ‘Angeball’ which I strongly disagree with, as David was a regular part of Ange’s staring XI until an injury in the league cup final win against Hibs sidelined him for a few months.

Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley came in and hit the ground running so when David was back to full fitness he found his chances of getting a regular start very limited.

When he was called into action he didn’t let himself down and was considered an important part of the squad.

David is a great young Scottish talent and still has a lot more to offer. He also has time to improve on his talents and there’s no one better than Brendan to help him do just that.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy
