“I’ve heard how good the atmosphere is at Celtic Park,” Liam Shaw

While the Celtic support will be eager to see how Ange Postecoglou’s first Celtic match goes one of the interesting little side-shows tomorrow with the be chance for the two former Sheffield Wednesday players recently arrived at Celtic to come face to face with their old teammates.

Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide moved from Hillsborough to Paradise for a total cross border fee of just £350k – and that could prove to be outstanding pieces of business for the Hoops. Tomorrow both players will hope to play for Celtic for the first time in the friendly match in Wales against their old teammates and Shaw has been speaking about this and the banter he’s had to endure from his new teammates given tomorrows’s opponents.

“I just want to get out there now and show my ability,” the 20 year old said, as reported by Celtic TV. “Hopefully I play well and show the gaffer what I’m about.

“It’s going to be weird, first game Celtic play against Sheffield Wednesday. But it’s also going to be just like any other game, when you show on the pitch you don’t think about anything, you just think about winning. I’m looking forward to it.

“I obviously know all the lads really well and they know how I play. But it will be nice to see a few familiar faces.

“I’ll just go in and give it 100-per-cent and see how it goes. I reckon it will be a tough game, it won’t be easy at all. They’ve got a lot of good players still there. But we’ve got to play our football and play how we want to, not worry about any other team.”

Shaw also revealed that the chance to play in front of the Celtic support at a packed out Paradise is what he is looking forward to more than anything else. “Playing in front of the fans. That’s what I’m looking forward to the most. I’ve heard how good the atmosphere is at Celtic Park.

“And hopefully scoring a goal and hearing the crowd. But playing in that atmosphere, hopefully, will be something I remember forever. I think it will just give me energy, maybe nervous energy. But it’s a good nervous energy.”
