Jamie Carragher’s ignorance swatted by the King of Kings

Henrik Larsson’s swatted aside the usual English disrespect for the Scottish game during his appearance on the Gary Neville, hosted football podcast The Overlap…

Celtic legend Henrik Larsson was recently invited on as guest to the prominent football podcast The Overlap – Stick to Football which boasts regular ex players such as Gary Neville and Roy Keane, and it was fair to say that he didn’t disappoint.

Henrik was the true definition of a superstar. Deadly in front of goal, and he proved he’s just as lethal when it comes to his wit, and telling it firmly how it is.

The King of Kings spoke fondly of his time at Celtic, and once again paid homage to the club and the supporters by recognising the platform he was given to mould him into one of the best centre forwards in World Football. Celtic made Henrik, and Henrik helped massively in making us a big name once again on the world stage.

That didn’t stop the usual English arrogance from rearing it’s head, with former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher suggesting that some will always cast doubt as Henrik only done it in ‘Scottish football’.

The former Liverpool defender said this to Henrik: “You know the move to Barcelona…obviously you are a legend at Celtic, we have seen the stats and getting all the goals, but there is always that thing – ‘oh, it’s the Scottish league…”

Henrik replied: “Yes, that is what you English say,” with podcast host Gary Neville adding: “That’s a good line. There is a lot of Scottish hate coming your way.”

Larsson replied: “We played against a few English teams and we beat them.” with Carragher conceding: “And we were one of them!”

Henrik continued: “I stayed for seven years in Scotland with Celtic, but at the same time I played in the Euros and the World Cup. For me, it wasn’t important. I played in the Europa League or Champions League, I played against English opponents and you score against them.”

Not only is it total disrespect from our footballing friends down south, it’s completely and utter nonsense as Henrik showed his true worth on the big stage time and time again.

The World Cup, the European championships, Henrik more than proved himself with Sweden. At Celtic he done excelled at Champions league and UEFA Cup level.

He of course famously won the Champions league with Barcelona, indeed he was instrumental in the 2-1 victory over Arsenal in Paris, coming off the bench to play a massive part in the Catalan sides two goals which won them the big cup.

Henrik also inflicted some damage on a few EPL sides during his career, with Jamie Carragher himself on the opposing side, something that Henrik gleefully reminded the arrogant pundit much to the amusement of his fellow former players on the show, especially Roy Keane!

Carragher is a repellent motormouthed numbskull with a penchant for spitting at members of the public through car windows. It’s s sign of the times that a whining cringe inducing scouse cretin like him gets so much airtime.
