January moves off the park could decide Scottish Premiership title race

Hearts and theRangers are throwing everything they’ve got in as both clubs attempt at winning the title. It’s a golden chance for both clubs in a season where Celtic has been our own worst enemy. It’s now vital over the that over the next few weeks we do the same and that means backing Martin O’Neill in the transfer window…

Will Michael Nicholson back the manager in this window or will he instead look to cover the not insignificant cost of hiring and firing a dud manager and his sidekicks who turned Celtic into a points dropping laughing stock in their eight matches in charge of the team.

Nancy and Co. lost six of their eight matches including a Premier Sports Cup Final, a home match against Hearts and a Glasogow Derby also at Celtic Park?

The Celtic CEO talked about backing Nancy in the January window but with the recruitment targets being selected by our former Football Doctor Paul Tisdale, Nicholson may have some reluctance in putting our money where his mouth is. But doing nothing would be even worse so what does Nicholson and his boardroom colleagues do?

Listen to Shaun Maloney’s advice to Martin O’Neill that the legendary manager has considered prior to telling the CEO that he’s signing off on the players in question.

After the weekend, the race for the Scottish Premiership title unusually looks very much like being of the three horse variety, with Hearts, ourselves and our Glasgow rivals theRangers all battling it out in the aim to be crowned champions of Scotland.

Hearts have already added a couple of additions to their squad, and are still looking to bolster it with the Gorgie side still in the market for new blood. And theRangers has also splashed the cash, and like their wee cousins from Edinburgh, they are actively looking to add more players, as they seek to win only the second league title in their 13 year history.

At the weekend Celtic returned to winning ways with a fine performance in the 4-0 victory over Dundee United, helping with the goal difference. Hearts relied on a wonder save from Craig Gordon in the closing seconds in their narrow 1-0 over Dundee and celebrated at the final whistle like title contenders. Then theRangers got the better of a terrible Aberdeen team for the second time in five days, scooping up the six points against currently the worst team in the league.

All three contenders will be happy enough with their weekend but the title could come down to what happens off the park in the next few weeks as much as on it in the four months remaining in what has been a bizarre and unpredictable season in the mad world of Scottish football. The biggest surprise possibly has been that Celtic has been the maddest club of the lot and by soon distance.

So far Celtic’s recuitment amounts to adding Julian Araujo who arrived on loan from Bournemouth, but much more is required in the market, with a target man being our number one priority.

Over the past week we been linked with a host of names, most recently Mohamed Bamba, with the likes of Kieran Bowie and Callum Wilson also in the mix as speculation increases the further we get into month.

Talk is cheap though, and what we need is action. We need at least three new faces in the door if we harbour any hopes of winning a fifth consecutive championship. Having emptied our trophy cabinet of both the Scottish Cup and Premier Sports Cup we cannot contemplate the Scottish Premiership trophy heading to Ibrox or Tynecastle.

A proven striker is what we require most of all. Someone who can find the net on a regular basis, someone who can convert the ton of chances we create by the bucketload in each and every game. With Celtic playing like we did on Saturday it will be rich picking for any decent goalscorer.

A creative and goalscoring threat on the right hand side of the attack would be just as welcome with a central defender also high up on the wish list, although it looks like the cheap option card has already been played by re-calling Stephen Welsh midway through his season-long loan at Motherwell where he has admittedly been outstanding.

Our rivals are going all out in the pursuit of glory, yet we have much more money in the bank, we just need some ambition from the boardroom. There is literally no excuse not to. We have the means at our disposal to secure our aim of finishing top of the pile come May.

We now have a manager and coaching staff capable of winning Scottish Premiership matches. It’s vital that they are backed if we are to achieve our target.

I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.

  1. Nicholson doesn’t know what to do. He looks anaemic. He needs a pack of red blood cells he’s as white as a ghost. He couldn’t serve even if he was drafted. The face only a mother could love. And the wind is changing direction and blowing east. Hearts have signed another foreign winger. They’ve got access to a scouting network.

We’re up shits creek without a paddle gents. And I’m touching cloth and clenching.

  2. Nicholson like a guide dog that’s blind leading a blind man. We’re needing a take over of Celtic. The club needs to be put up for sale.

I’ve been listening to the Celtic supporters Ltd group. They phoned up Clyde 1. They’re looking for 15,000 fans to invest in a share of the club to buy a collective stake. That’s what Change could look like.

We need a freeze on season tickets. A restoration of free game. And plans to modernise the stadium.

Nicholson is the next to go. Trousering the £70 million quid. He hasn’t a scooby doo.

It’s gross negligence. We need to take our club back.

Thank God and the Angels for Martin O’Niell. God bless him and God keep him.

  3. Can you write an article about the Celtic Supporters Ltd.

The parable of the talents of the Holy Bible comes to mind.

Jesus gave the servants different talents according to their needs. He wanted us to identify our talents and multiply them. He wanted us to go on an adventure with our lives. But it’s what Jesus says when he says. Be fruitful and multiply the talents. He believes in free market capitalism and not communism.

The green brigade would do well to read this in the Holy Bible. The spotty communists don’t realise that free market capitalism is written.

Nicholson at the present moment the worthless Slave that hides his coin in the ground. He’s hiding the £70 million and God is not pleased.

Jesus I pray. That we can buy Celtic and be fruitful and multiply the talents. In the name of Martin O’Neill and how great thou Mart. Amen

    • I protect the right of anyone to their views, live and let live, but You do realise the bible is a parable, with zero archeological or historical evidence to back it up?, and this is exactly what most biblical scholars believe.
So to be using a 2000 year old fable as the basis for running a business or a football club is a bit rich. As for invoking communism, maybe instead try thinking for yourself, you think free market capatilism and the evils of Israel and Trump are a working system?, and to paraphrase your book, ‘It is easier for a rich man to pass through the eye of a needle, than the gates of heaven’.
Jesus is the very picture of a capatilist, really?, he’d have to have stopped helping the poor and the needy for that to be the case, Trump would have crucified him for belonging to his fantasy Antifa.

      • If your put your money on trading and ivesting you’ll know that the stock market is at record levels thanks to President Trump. It’s a fact. Celtic fans can own Celtic and get a taste of capitalism at their fingertips with trading apps like 212.

Instead of being left wing communists that hate Britain and American Imperialism. While the woke left want men in women’s sports and a false green agenda while the rest of the world builds up fossil fuels.

Capital gains tax in 2023 was 12,900 quid. Today it’s 3,000

Mass uncontrolled migration hi tax low industry economy and a third of Scot’s sucking on the teet of the tax payer. While Muslims break into Britain and take over.

Let’s hope Iran takes their freedom back

Because we are taking our country back and our football club for the Catholics and god bless Jesus Christ the parable of the tablents I interpret as capitalism .

Chairman maos red book killed 75 million citizens communism is always murder

Celtic will take their club back when they fans embrace capitalism

  4. You could have written this article at almost any time in the past 20+ years and it would still be relevant. Unfortunately we have plenty of evidence as to how this pans out, and it’s seldom in a good way. So far we have a loan( any buy option?), and the recall of a player who was fast running out of chances, and had probably been consigned to the ‘unlikely to make it at Celtic’ category. This looks pretty much like our usual dysfunctional operations, where we add a sub standard loan striker on the last day of the window.
The people who run our club are charlatans, and are the reason I gave up my season book some years ago, they don’t know how to run a ‘football’ club, and seemingly have learned nothing over the years. What is far more likely, is that they think they have nothing to learn, as things are going exactly as they want.
