Current Nottingham Forest goalie, Dean Henderson appeared on Saturday Social on Sky Sports and revealed that Celtic keeper Joe Hart is his idol.
Dean Henderson is currently playing at Nottingham Forest on loan from Manchester United. He expressed his appreciation for Hart regarding the early stages of Hart’s career as the progression the former England goalkeeper made was mightily impressive and inspired the next genration of keepers, likes Henderson himself.
Hart was a consistent starter for Manchester City, helping them win the Premier League, and at his height was the first-choice keeper for England. Towards the latter stages of his career, as the management changed, Hart’s position at City came under threat so he was sent out on various loan spells to places like Burnley, to Tottenham, at one point he was playing in Italy.
He eventually headed to Paradise to continue playing football at a high level with Celtic, to get consistent game time, and not waste away at best sitting on the bench for Tottenham.
The Manchester United loanee said…
“Growing up actually, when I became a goalkeeper, I think Joe Hart was. Just seeing him progress. I was still at Carlisle before I went to Manchester United and then seeing Joe do it, the way I wanted to do it. Then go out on loan and build his way up in Manchester City’s team. He was one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, at the time.”
“Unbelievable for England. He was probably my idol growing up. When I went to Shrewsbury, he had affiliations with Shrewsbury and stuff like that. Then I managed to meet him and talked to him. And he was someone I looked up to.”
