Joe Hart’s Celtic arrival means Ross Doohan is headed for loan exit

Joe Hart was confirmed as a Celtic player earlier today on a three-year deal but his arrival means that Celtic will likely look to find moves for their current crop of goalies that they don’t see as Hart’s supporting cast. One player that is already headed for the exit, Ross Doohan.

The 23-year-old was previously out with a minor knock but having recovered, he is now set for a move to Tranmere Rovers. Doohan has spent loan spells at Ayr United and Ross County as well as Dundee United but given that Postecoglou will need to define roles for Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard in the pecking order at the club following Hart’s arrival.

According to The Herald, Doohan will complete a medical tomorrow for Tranmere to join up with Micky Mellon’s side. The goalkeeper was signed by Mellon at United in an emergency loan last season and now a move will allow him to play some first team football.

Doohan and Hazard have been tipped as being future Celtic No.1’s but both players need exposure playing regular football. Doohan has made 95 appearances at club level and will be hoping to build upon previous loan spells and put himself in contention with a place in between the goals at Paradise in the not-too-distant future.
