John Higgins and Celtic both find themselves Needing Snookers in January

I’m going to say this. I’m just going to have to accept what is happening at our great Club because there is nothing I or you, can do about it, so for for the sake of my sanity let it go.

When we stopped their attempt at the 10 it went right to the last game of the season. That’s what made it so great. It was nip and tuck. Okay we know they were financially doped, but that’s what made it even better. It broke their hearts.

Needing Snookers…

Compare that to now! We are a busted flush. In only January! Okay, okay, I know we’re in unchartered waters with Covid and no fans and players dropping out left, right and centre, but it’s the way we have capitulated without even a fight that does my head in.

Just this week, even after the loss to them previously, if we had taken 6 points from Hibs and Livingston there would at least be a small crumb of hope, a morsel maybe but it would be there. Instead we gathered 2 points, and Livingston should have beaten us, they were better organised.

How Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon can look at themselves in the mirror in the morning I don’t know.

Needing Snookers

You see its not that we’re entitled fans who think we should win everything in sight for all time. It’s that fact that we have, and I hate to say this, surrendered, that sticks in the throat.

So when Neil Lennon an Peter Lawwell consoles themselves with all the things they THINK they have achieved…ALL of that has been thrown away, ditched, by their actions this season. I’ll never forgive them.

Needing snookers

A shout out to Amy McFadden who reacted to Celtic’s post wishing John Higgins all the best for the Masters Final at the Snooker last night (he lost by 10 frames to 8) by sticking up this wee graphic that no doubt brought a wry smile to many supporters’ faces. In the final frame John Higgins made a decent attempt to get the three snookers he needed to level the match. Ironically exactly the same position that Celtic are in this morning – we need snookers.

Incidentally John Higgins was full of praise for his 20 year old Chinese opponent Yan Bingtao in last night’s Masters Final. “It is a great achievement winning it at such a young age. I have played him the last few years. He has not much to learn in the tactical department and he is scoring as well now,” Higgins said to the BBC.

“He was fantastic. He has such an incredible all round game.  He could be a world champion without a shadow of a doubt, so China is very lucky to have Yan.”
