Juranovic’s Reduced Price Tag Deemed ‘Unbelievable’ by Hartson

John Hartson has branded the latest price tag for Josip Juranovic as ‘unbelievable’, as the Croatian’s performance on the global stage, the former Celtic striker believes, should demand a much higher price.

Following on from the World Cup in Qatar, transfer speculation revolving around Josip Juranovic has been growing and growing. Numbers in the range of £20-30 million were discussed to be the going rate for the Croatian full-back, as his World Cup performances were so impressive.

The conclusion of the World Cup saw the Croatians land third place, behind France and Argentina. Since defeating Morrocco to finish third, Juranovic has been linked with several clubs all around Europe, with Chelsea, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Manchester United all reportedly showing interest in the full-back. The Serie A club, Monza, according to reports, have already tabled a bid for the Croatian.

Hartson makes the point that Juranovic held his own against some of Europe’s finest, who are currently paid big money. So, it doesn’t really make sense that Juranovic’s asking price is significantly lower.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football show,  Hartson gave his thoughts on Juranovic’s recent evaluation. We go back to Juranovic, last week we were talking about £20m. He was one of the best right-backs at the World Cup.

“Hakimi was fantastic. He’s at PSG, probably on £150,000 a week. He was great for Morocco. Juranovic was equally as good, and you are talking £7m. It’s unbelievable. I don’t know the structure of the deal, agents fees and blah, blah, blah. I would have thought at least double that. I’m shocked. I’ve listened to some of the comments on social media and Celtic fans can’t believe it.”

  1. Understand we’ve already signed his replacement, but that doesn’t mean we are in a rush to sell for a low price surely? He’s mid contract and just off a world cup campaign. Set the price and ignore any low ball offers. Plenty clubs can afford 3 x as much. Look at the ridiculous fee for Wan Bissaka. Him or Jura? Seriously?
