Karamoko Dembele linked to Serie A newcomers

A report in the Daily Express has revealed that ex-Celtic winger and prodigious talent, Karamoko Dembele has been given an offer by Serie A newcomers Lecce to join in their quest to stay in Italy’s top league. Dembele left Celtic at the end of May after his contract expired along with a raft of other young players.

Dembele was once heralded as the next best thing in Scottish football such was his ability. At the age of just 13, the player was starring in the development team games with players years his senior. Brendan Rodgers ensured he was being challenged in an effort to aid his potential.

Now it sadly looks like Karamoko will be another footnote in Celtic’s history, having failed to adequately make the breakthrough at the club. It was unfortunate for the youngster when Ange Postecoglou arrived, as the Greek-Aussie looked like giving him a chance. This would come to an abrupt halt when he was savagely challenged during a pre-season game with Bristol City – ruling the trickster out for months.

I’m sure the player can build a career elsewhere in the game as he has too much ability to merely fall into obscurity. The report revealed that the Italians are even willing to offer the Dembele – who is of Ivorian descent – a contract worth nearly £1 million per-year. Not a negligible salary by any means.

We wish Karamoko all the best for his future in the game.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
