Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel equalled a 118-year record this afternoon. The Danish International kept his fifth consecutive clean sheet, which is the first time a goalkeeper has not conceded in their first five games since 1906/07.
The record was held by Tom Sinclair at the beginning of the 1906 season. The Celtic goalkeeper was actually on loan from Rangers after an injury sustained on the goalposts at Ibrox.
Schmeichel will be looking to better this record in two weeks when Brendan’s side travel to Perth to face St Johnstone. Before then, the Celts will be looking to start their Champions League campaign with a win as well as dumping Falkirk out the League Cup.
Schmeichel has impressed since replacing Joe Hart as the Celtic No.1 this summer. The 37-year-old has a calming presence and has made some big saves since coming to the club.
Credit is also due to the back four of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Greg Taylor and Alistair Johnston for assisting with this feat.
Not so re shut outs. Tom Sinclair had 6 not 5 in his first (and only) six games . Kasper will equal this if he does not concede in Perth. Check Celtic Wiki for proof.
