Kieran Tierney removed from Arsenal’s first-team training ahead of Deadline Day

Kieran Tierney has been removed from Arsenal’s first-team training at the Emirates club and has apparently been told by Mikel Arteta that he will not be in his plans this year. It comes after there has been a bit of an ongoing saga surrounding the Scotland international since the summer transfer window begun.

Tierney moved from Celtic Park to London back in August 2019 for a fee of £25 million and had started off so well in the English Premier League, so much so, that he was tipped by many to be a future Arsenal captain. The club rewarded him with a new and improved contract and had been happy with his development at that stage.

More of this…

However, last season, Mikel Arteta decided that he wanted to go a different route and signed Oleksander Zinchenko from Manchester City to play his inverted full-back role. Despite this, even when Tierney has been fit and the Ukrainian has not, he has preferred improvised solutions to the left-back spot in the side, which has been the subject of much speculation as to what has happened to Tierney.

Reports had stated in the past that the Gunners would be looking for £35 million for him but that has now been quashed, with them now thought to be willing to slash that by a significant amount to get the ex-Celtic man off the books. It’s looking more and more likely that Kieran will be on the move this window and today’s update confirms what everyone thought.

And this from KT if he comes up the road…

With nowhere for him to go as it stands, a move back to Celtic Park in the short-term could be the perfect answer to everyone’s problems for the time being. The Hoops could pay Arsenal a substantial loan fee which would go some way in subsidising his wages for the season and it means he wouldn’t be moving to a rival either.

Things just got very interesting…

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
