Kieran Tierney screamer shows Celtic what they’re missing

Kieran Tierney scored a screamer for Arsenal last night as Mikel Arteta’s side beat West Brom 4-0. The former Celtic defender left the Scottish Champions in the summer of 2019 for a fee in the region of £25m, becoming the most expensive Scottish export.

The former Celtic hero’s trade mark drive down the left hand side saw an unusual conclusion as instead of crossing or cutting it back, Tierney cut back onto his right foot and curled the ball into the net.

As Tierney prepared for the game at West Brom, Celtic were dealing with the fall out of the defeat at Ibrox earlier in the day. A single own-goal from Callum McGregor settled the game in Rangers’ favour. However, one issue was Celtic’s distribution in the full back areas. Notably that from Diego Laxalt.

Laxalt provided an excellent tackle to block Morelos’ path to goal; although, he was poor with the ball from promising advanced positions. The shortcomings of yet another left back proved that since Tierney left, the club haven’t replaced the 23-year-old.

Bolingoli, Hayes, Taylor and Laxalt have all been called upon since Tierney switched Glasgow for London proving that Celtic are still struggling to find a viable replacement for the Scotland Internationalist.
