Celtic transfer target Kieran Tierney was an unused substitute for Arsenal in their Saturday night draw with Brighton….
The 27-year-old is expected to agree a return to Celtic but it appears that Mikel Arteta still sees a role for him with the Premier League side.
Fabrizio Romano’s Tierney to Celtic updates
Celtic have opened contract talks with Tierney over a sensational return to the club. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said that there is an eagerness amongst parties to get a deal agreed but there has yet to be anything finalised.
There has been a suggestion that Tierney will sign a pre-contract and then be allowed to complete his Arsenal deal while on loan at Celtic before making his switch permanent in the summer.
Taylor wants Celtic stay
Arteta will be able to welcome Jurrien Timber back from suspension as well as Tomiyasu and Ben White (injury) in the next few weeks. This will ease pressure on his defence and likely clear a path for a January move for Tierney.
It is expected that Arsenal will not stand in the player’s way and will allow a temporary move before the summer if it is expected that he won’t be playing. Meanwhile Greg Taylor has made it known that he wants to stay at Celtic.
