Kieran Tierney – What loyalty towards Celtic looks like

You can win money, you can’t buy loyalty….

When I was at Primary School my two favourite Celtic players were Kenny Dalglish and Danny McGrain but the only time I got to see them was on television until my Dad took me to Danny’s Testimonial against Manchester United at Celtic Park in 1980.

I never got to saw him at his peak as one of the ‘Quality Street Gang’ and to appreciate he was and still is one of the greatest defenders not just for Celtic but Scotland has ever had. His final honour was being inducted into Scotland’s Football Hall of Fame in 2004.

Danny also had something else, loyalty and that is now being show by one of our best players and also a real Celtic fan, Kieran Tierney.

Ask yourself this, how many times have we seen stories or rumours in the media already this season that he is going to move, a bid is coming in for him, various Scouts are watching him? It’s nearly every week. He isn’t interested in going anywhere that has been made clear.

Only last weekend Kieran was in with the support watching Celtic against Partick Thistle, yet on Saturday night I started to see media headline stories on the internet that Spurs were planning a cut price offer of £10m for him due to Celtic being ‘cash strapped’ after our failure to progress in the Champions League.

This was complete and total rubbish with a purpose of unsettling Kieran and trying to worry the Celtic support. That is the danger of the media who always use the word ‘could’ which means nothing.

Kieran later in his career may move on but at present his loyalty to Celtic is unquestionable, will the media ever accept this? I doubt it.
