Knee injury rules out Giakoumakis, Hampden too soon for Rogic and Starfelt

Celtic will be without three key players for the League Cup semi-final against St Johnstone at Hampden on Saturday evening. Ange Postecoglou has been speaking at his pre-match media conference this afternoon and Alison Conroy has tweeted some concerning injury news.

Striker Giorgos Giakoumakis has a knee injury and will be missing for around a week, so is out of the semi-final and almost certainly the trip to Germany to play Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday night. And the semi-final is too soon for both Carl Starfelt and Tom Rogic both recovering from hamstring strains incurred in recent weeks. Neither will be ready to face St Johnstone.

The scare on an injury to Stephen Welsh seems to be nothing to worry about and the team to face St Johnstone is likely to look like this.

Hart, Ralston, Carter Vickers, Welsh, Juranovic, Bitton, McGregor, Turnbull, Abada, Kyogo and Jota.
