Kris Ajer’s name pops up on AC Milan’s Shopping List

TMW, THE ITALIAN media outlet has claimed that Kristoffer Ajer is on a shortlist of two that AC Milan have as they look to recruit a central defender.

“IDEA AJER – Intanto c’è stato un contatto per il difensore norvegese, 21enne, ora in forza al Celtic Glasgow. Sarebbe una inversione di tendenza che sembra abbastanza consolidata, perché il Milan vuole giovani per plusvalenze e crescita, invece di puntare su giocatori già più che formati. Ci sono dunque due linee di pensiero, una che porta a Lovren (pista che non è stata mollata, piace anche alla Roma) e l’altra ad Ajer”

On Google Translate that looks like this…

“IDEA AJER – Meanwhile, there was a contact for the 21-year-old Norwegian defender, now working for Celtic Glasgow. It would be a turnaround that seems fairly consolidated, because Milan wants young people for capital gains and growth, instead of focusing on already more than trained players. There are therefore two lines of thought, one that leads to Lovren (a track that has not been dumped, also like Rome) and the other to Ajer.”

Ajer appears to be the second choice behind Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren, after Milan have signed Leo Duarte.

Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren is apparently an AC Milan target alongside Kris Ajer

“Leo Duarte is the latest arrival for Milan’s defense, but may not be the only one. Milan is looking for another central, because if a proposal arrives for Musacchio around 18 million euros it could decide to collect a capital gain. Yesterday there was a meeting with the agents of Dejan Lovren, Liverpool defender, but it costs a lot. High salary, over 4 million euros – but the square would be found – and the Reds has lowered the claims: it is around 20 million, it can be closed to 15.”

This report reckons that AC Milan could be prepared to pay Liverpool £15million for Croatian defender Lovren but does not provide what Milan’s potential valuation for Ajer would be. They do point out that there would be a considerable re-sale value for the Norwegian Internationalist who joined Celtic in 2016 for just £500k (well done Ronny Deila) and is on a long term contract at Celtic.

It would be crazy for Celtic to even consider letting Ajer leave at this stage as he is going to be a huge star at Celtic over the next few years and his market value will soar.

Jozo Simunovic has been linked to Lille again this morning after the Ligue 1 runners up banked £72million from Arsenal for Nicolas Pepe. The Gunners, who declared at the start of the summer that they only had £40million to spend on players, continue to be linked for a third bid for Kieran Tierney, having failed to impress Celtic with their previous attempts at getting the Celtic Star on the cheap.

The English window closes in six day time. The sooner the better.
