Kris Boyd understands that Ange Postecoglou could bury his Ibrox favourites

The hype and hyperbole surrounding Ange Postecoglou being linked with other clubs every time a vacancy appears in the English Premier League is more fanciful than it is factual. Our boss is happy where he is right now and is appreciating being part of a very unique and special community. The feeling is very much mutual on our side too and we are in as good a place as we have been in living memory in that aspect.

The media are itching for Postecoglou to get on his bike just as Rodgers and Gerrard did to pick up some mid-table club in that League and leave us in the lurch – feeling melancholic and betrayed. Gerrard leaving for Aston Villa particularly upset a few people and the wound is still very raw in some cases throughout the atmosphere in Scotland.

That’s why Kris Boyd is so painstakingly desperate to make it appear as if Ange Postecoglou vacating the Parkhead hotseat is good for Scottish football. The man is clutching at straws with his faux assertion that it would raise the profile of the game up here. It’s hardly raising the profile if the top manager in the country goes to relegation-threatened Leeds United, instead of winning silverware and playing in the Champions League in front of 60,000 spectators.

No, he’s so transparent it’s remarkable he can keep a straight face when he says things like this. Just admit to yourself that Celtic have got their act together under Ange and that means curtains for his favourite club. There’s no getting away from it; Ange Postecoglou is building something truly special at Celtic Park and Boyd and his likes know it. They are terrified if this man stays and builds a legacy, dare I say, even a dynasty at Celtic Park.

Knowing what we do about Ange Postecoglou now, you wouldn’t discount it, would you?

Anyway, here Boyd trying to deflect his partial views for the Sky Sports camera…

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
