Martin O’Neill has issued a fresh injury update on Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney as his team prepares to face Motherwell in the Premiership this weekend…
KT and Calmac both missed Sunday’s trip to Ibrox, where Celtic won in dramatic style with a penalty shootout victory.
Speaking prior to that Glasgow Derby clash, O’Neill explained that McGregor’s issue resembled a problem he dealt with last season. The 74 year-old also suggested that Tierney’s injury was not considered serious at the time but could not take the risk of starting him in the fixture.
In a conversation with Celtic TV which is available to the club’s channel’s subscribers, Martin O’Neill has now provided the latest information regarding whether both players will be fit in time for Saturday’s encounter.

The Celtic boss said: “Certainly, Kieran would have a better chance of playing at this moment, but we will see.
“Callum has been terrific for us and an incredible player and captain for the club. He’s done really well, and the sooner we can get him back on the field, the better it will be for us.”

Reflecting on his team’s performance at Ibrox last weekend, O’Neill went on to say: “I couldn’t be more proud of the team. They’ve shown great resilience, great character, all the words that you normally associate with sides who come through a period like this.”
“It was really tough, I must admit. I had a look at it, particularly when the rearranged game against Aberdeen fell in there. You’re travelling away to Stuttgart, Ibrox, and then Aberdeen on Wednesday, which is three games in six days.”
“And then the fourth game we had in a 10 day period was Ibrox again in the cup. But to come through in the manner that the team did, it was a nice sign that they are prepared to battle and compete.”
