Could we see both Kyogo and Idah start at Dingwall? It certainly looks increasingly likely….
With Nicolas Kuhn, James Forrest, Daizen Maeda and Luis Palma all out of tomorrow’s trip to Dingwall to take on Ross County, we face a dilemma as to who starts in the wide areas.
James Forrest remains sidelined and will not be back until sometime next month after picking up an injury in the Premier Sports Cup Final win over theRangers.
Both Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda – Celtic’s top two scorers this season – miss the trip o Dingwall after feeling strains in midweek, Kuhn dropped out of the side after his problem in the warm-up while Daizen noticed his own strain after the 2-0 win over Dundee United. Both are likely to be back for the trip to Dens Park to play Dundee on Tuesday night.
Luis Palma sadly suffered a bereavement over night and our thoughts and prayers are with him at this sad time.
Brendan was asked how his squad was for looking ahead of the game up in Dingwall tomorrow and in particular how was Nicolas Kuhn after the German winger pulled out of the side with a thigh strain ahead of kick-off on Wednesday night.
The Celtic manager replied: “Yeah, he and Daizen (Maeda) are doubtful for the game, so we just have to find out where they’re at but both of those are doubtful. Not longer term, but should be hopefully okay for Tuesday. Luis Palma sadly had a bereavement overnight, so he won’t travel with the squad. James Forrest is still out, but apart from that, all good.”
Yang will undoubtedly start out on the right, but who starts on the left hand side is anyone’s guess. Luke McCowan is an option, but a more likely pick is Kyogo. That would mean both our strikers making a rare start in the same game, and a move I think we could all get fully behind.
While Brendan won’t change his tried and trusted formation to accommodate two target men, both Kyogo and Adam are capable of playing in a more wider position and making a big contribution. My choice would be Adam as he has the strength and ability to create chances, while Kyogo as we know thrives more playing through the middle.
Regardless of whoever plays there it will give us a greater goal threat, and that will only make us stronger in what will be a tough game on a tight pitch against a side on form.
