Kyogo set to show he’s the best goalscorer in Scottish Premiership

Kyogo may be going through a bit of a rough patch, but he’s still, in my view, the best striker in the country and he’s about to prove it…

Kyogo Furuhashi is going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment, that’s clear for all to see, but he’s still the number one striker in the country. The likes of Lawrence Shankland, Bojan Miovski and even Cyriel Dessers are currently ahead of him in the goal standings, but Kyogo for me is still the main man.

He’s nothing to prove to anybody as his goal record does the talking, especially in the big games. Our two Glasgow Derby wins this season are proving to be ever so crucial at this moment in time, and Kyogo grabbed the all decisive goal in both games. He also hit two superb goals in the Champions League group stage this season, proving his worth on the biggest stage of all.

The fact that’s he’s a bit out of sorts – for a variety of reasons, not all of his making – and still finding the net speaks volumes of his ability. There has been talk recently of dropping him, but that is nonsense. Concentrate instead on getting him the service from the wings because that has been in woefully short supply this season. If wingers are not delivering then they should not be selected.

Last weekend Brendan Rodgers introduced a tactical tweak to allow new signing Adam Idah to lead the line with Kyogo slightly deeper in a 4-4-1-1 formation.  That paid dividends with Kyogo smashing in the all important opening goal in what was tough away from home Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren. We can look forward to seeing both strikers start tomorrow against Kilmarnock were we are not only looking for the three points but as many goals as possible.

Kyogo still has a big say in how our season will pan out, and with every game until the end of the season being treated like a cup final, Kyogo will prove his worth, mark my words. To write him off would be rather foolish, he will have a big say in the destination of the title.

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
